Yahto arrived at Cleveland Airport met by his new family and driving home to his
"forever" home in Greenville, PA. He will be loved, grow with my
grandchildren and have a very active, meaningful life...there is nothing more a
mother could ask for!
Yahto will be leaving for Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday. He is being adopted by my daughter's family. They were here at Thanksgiving and fell in love with him and the feeling was mutual, especially with my grandchildren. When they heard he was up for adoption, they knew they had to have him (they even submitted an application). So we made the necessary arrangements for him to go to his new home. He'll even get to swim (only in the summer) and we get to keep him in the family. Perfect ending to a heartbreaking situation.
Yahto is a very special, loving (neutered) 16-month-old Blue Merle (blue-eyed) Aussie. He is extremely energetic, intelligent and determined, a truly velcro dog who absolutely loves to swim. Yahto is housebroken (thru doggie door), crate-trained and has recently graduated from obedience class. He also does well with cats and horses. He really enjoys laying in your lap and cuddling, but is highly energetic and needs to be active. He is a real sweetheart with personality plus. His estimated birth date is 09/13/00
DAISY, a "special needs" Lethal White Aussie desperately in need of a forever home.
DAISY
(Dowagiac, MI)
ADOPTED 03/01/02
Daisy
has arrived!
Here's what her new Mom had to say along with some great pics she shared with
us.
Cyndi, just wanted to let you know that
Daisy (who I've since renamed Nicole -- Nikki for
short) arrived here in AZ safe & sound last Friday.
We've had the best time getting to know each other and she's getting
along well with the other (4) dogs. She's having a
lot of fun running around in the pasture, getting introduced to the concept of irrigation (she thinks
it's much more fun when she gets as dirty as possible), learning not to
chase chickens /ducks/geese, and has gotten over being slightly
intimidated by the horses. She loves riding in the
car and is forever running over to it & looking at me
like, "is it time to go for another ride yet???" She
seems to have a pretty good case of separation anxiety, but I don't think
that will take too long for her to get over, and since my retired Mother
lives with me, she won't be left alone much -- in fact, I'll be lucky if
she doesn't turn into my Mom's dog (she thinks Nikki's absolutely
adorable too!).
I was able to locate a dog trainer who's willing to work with us -- she
does obedience & agility training -- so we'll be progressing into
obedience lessons very soon. Lois did a great job of
teaching her the "stay/wait" and "come"
commands, so I'm sure we won't have a bit of trouble learning
more obedience stuff, in fact I think she's going to love it. Lois was
absolutely a joy to work with, I have a feeling we'll be keeping in touch
with one another.
Nikki's a wonderful little dog! Thanks again for putting her on your
website, we wouldn't have found one another otherwise! Here's a couple
of pictures of her: (please click to
Daisy
will be arriving to her forever home here in Phoenix by the
end of the month. We often wonder if we do any good by posting these
special Aussies needing new homes, now we no longer have to wonder.
Daisy lives in Michigan and her foster mom describes her as a real fireball. She loves to run and jump, especially on the cats (who don't seem to mind because they know she's only trying to play). Daisy appears to have no visual problems, but is "as deaf as a doorknob". She's beginning to catch on to hand signals, but mostly watches very closely when off leash. She loves interacting will almost all other dogs, is extremely playful and "sleeps like a baby".
Daisy is crate-trained and housebroken, though if left too long will occasionally have an accident (like any dog will). She just loves EVERYBODY and shows it by doing her best "wiggle-butt" until she gets some attention. She is very bright and needs the companionship of someone willing to work with her and keep her busy. Being an Aussie, when bored, she'll find her own ways to amuse herself (that us humans don't find so amusing) like adding some new holes to the landscaping (just in case you want to plant a tree or something).
Gypsy in St. Louis, MO
ADOPTED 01/27/02
Gypsy is a beautiful 10-month-old Blue Merle (Lethal White) Aussie. She is deaf and has some trouble seeing in the dark, but is very sweet and loving. She was placed with us because the other dogs in her former home were picking on her (they can sometimes sense weakness). Although she is a bit timid, she is beginning to play with the other dogs. Her eyes are blue (all lethals have blue eyes...that cannot see as they should). Gypsy is medium size with a cute bob tail. Gypsy will be spayed before being placed in her forever home. If you would like additional information about Gypsy, please contact Kathy at snap_4thedogz@yahoo.com
INCA
(ARPH #3989)
ADOPTED 01/19/02
Inca has been adopted by a wonderful woman in the Phoenix area and will now be sharing a big backyard with her Sheltie sister Lady. Inca finally has found her forever home where she will be loved and appreciated for the special Sweetheart she really is. Inca wishes that all dogs could experience this love and acceptance by finding a forever home. Adopt a rescue or shelter pet today!!!
Inca was a victim of a backyard breeder who kept her tied outside and never provided any human contact. As a result, Inca does not know how to snuggle, cuddle or trust people. She will occasionally approach for head pats (which she LOVES).
ADOPTED 12/28/01
Lucky Sedona...found the most perfect home...and quite by accident. Lorraine & Dave (the proud parents of Sage) offered to foster Sedona hoping to help her adjust to her disabilities and lead a "normal" life. They worked hard and consistently at potty-training, crate-training, socializing, etc to make sure Sedona was given every chance to be adopted into a loving, tolerant home. In that process, Sedona worked her magic charms and made them fall hopelessly in love. Sage played a great part in making this happen by sacrificing her body to puppy teeth, endless energy and pure determination. Sage's deflection of all those puppy antics allowed the rest of the "gang" to tolerate that puppy-like intrusion into their lives. Of course, our prayers that they all would fall in love with Sedona probably helped. She could not have found a more loving, understanding home than the one she is now part of. We thought that when they adopted Sage...more loving, caring parents could never be found. Our most heartfelt thanks to Dave & Lorraine for all they have to offer, especially to those in dire need.
Meet Sedona, she is a 2-month-old Lethal White. Debbie, Shelter Manger at AAWL rescued her from the pound and brought her to us for help in finding her the right home. She is totally deaf and partially blind, but quite adventurous, despite her disabilities. Sedona loves to run around the yard and play with her toys. She is in desperate need of a loving, committed family to guide her safely through life. If you are interested in providing a home for Sedona, I encourage you to research the information provided on our Lethal White page. Sedona is currently in foster care with the wonderful family who adopted Sage. She is in the process of being socialized and potty trained.

SKYLAR (Sweetie) ADOPTED 11/18/01
Skylar (now known as Quinn) has been adopted into a wonderful family where she spends time playing with her canine sister Skyy.
04/02 Here are some great new pics of Quinn & Skyy...just enjoying life.
Skylar is approximately 2 years old, a Blue Merle (spayed) female (one blue eye and one brown) and an absolute sweetheart. She is well-behaved, knows basic obedience commands, enjoys going for rides, loves the aussielads and is housebroken (can also use a doggie door). She is one happy-go-lucky Aussie. She loves everyone she meets, especially children. While Sky is not "dominant" she will NOT back down in a confrontation with a dominant female. She was checked by our vet, is in perfect health (though a little overweight) and received her booster and rabies shot.
SARA ADOPTED 11/13/01
Sara is a sweet and gentle 11-month-old Border Collie mix, weighing in at a mere 30 pounds. She is house-broken, spayed, up-to-date on all shots, licensed and ready to be loved. As you can see from her pictures, she is enjoying life at her foster home where she gets along with other dogs...and cats. She loves to be loved and always wants to be where you are. She is smart, quick and very agile and would be a great candidate for agility training. Sara loves carrying around stuffed animals and laying at your feet.
JAVA ADOPTED 10/31/01 SEE ME NOW!!!
Java (now known as Copper) has been adopted by a wonderful family who will provide much love and many opportunities for Java to have a fun-filled life. We appreciate the generosity of Brandy & Jason in offering to take full financial responsibility for Java's neutering and booster/rabies shots (he will be neutered 11/13). Their generosity also included reimbursing our cost for vet visit/shots and an additional donation to help incur some of our outstanding debts. Thank you...for everything. Stay tuned for pics and progress reports.
Java is a 13-week-old Red Merle Aussie. He was vet checked and received his first booster shots. He will be neutered on November 13th and receive his next booster shot. Java is an adorable puppy, sleeps through the entire night in his crate and is doing quite well with the potty training. He loves playing with all the aussielads and enjoys human attention as well. Java is a very happy puppy and has tons of personality.
Alexander is home with his
wonderful new family, along with his canine sister, Shelia in Parks, AZ...and he
is doing great.
Alexander is a sweet, energetic 1 to 2-year old blue-eyed Blue Merle. He is neutered and up-to-date on all shots. He loves getting affection and attention and enjoys playing with all the aussielads. Although Alexander is not cat-aggressive, he may be a little too playful for a cat. He is crate-trained and housebroken through a doggie door.

Meet Samantha ADOPTED 09/18/01
10/29/01
Sammi was spayed
today. She is recuperating nicely at her forever home with her wonderful
new family. New pics are promised, so stayed tuned.
10/25/01 Great news...Sammi's well enough to be spayed. Her HCT count is 37.7, an amazing increase due to all the love (and supplements) she's been getting from her new family. Sammi is absolutely beautiful...hopefully, we'll get a new pic soon (and a pic of her best friend/canine sister, Checkers). She is scheduled to be spayed on Monday (10/29). She is doing great and is very happy being part of such a wonderful, loving family. Way to go, Sammi
09/27/01 Sammi's HCT count is now 29.8%, so it is continuing to climb. She needs to be in the high 30% before she can be spayed. Sammi has been living with her "forever" family since 09/18/01 and she looks beautiful...and very happy. They are doing a wonderful job of taking care of her and giving her lots of love. She also has a canine sister, Checkers, who loves to bite on her ears and get her to play...they have really bonded. While it is not our policy to adopt out a dog before being spayed/neutered, this was an unusual case. Sammi will be tested again on 10/25/01 and when her levels reach the normal range, she will be scheduled for spay surgery. We will continue to cover all costs, including spay surgery.
09/14/01 Samantha's HCT (red blood cell count) showed a increase from 25% to 28.2%. Although this is a small increase, nonetheless, it is an increase. The danger would have been either NO increase or a decrease in the percentage. She will continue on the Doxycycline until prescribed dose is depleted and will remain on the supplement for an undetermined amount of time. Samantha will be retested again in 2 weeks (09/28) to monitor her HCT count. We are anticipating at least a month of treatment before considering spay surgery.
Please note that Samantha in no way appears to be ill. She is extremely active, runs, plays, wrestles non-stop with our Aussies and acts like a typical 6-month-old puppy. If Samantha had come to us already spayed, we would have no idea that she is anemic. Had this anemia not been detected, the results certainly could have been fatal. Please have a basic blood test run on your pets...just to be safe.
09/07/01 Samantha was scheduled for her spay surgery today. However, when the Pre-Anesthesia blood work was done, she was found to be extremely anemic. The normal range for HCT is 37 - 55%, Sammi (as we call her) is at 25%. A fecal was done and results were negative. She is currently on Doxycycline (100 mg) every 12 hours and Pet-Tinic supplement (containing iron) and will be re-tested next Friday. She also received her rabies and 1st booster shots. If her test next week shows an increase in the HCT, we will continue treatment and hopefully, within a month she will be strong enough to be spayed. If her HCT results do not show an increase, we will keep you informed on the next process (which indicates a need for a blood transfusion).
Samantha is a gorgeous 6-month-old Aussie/Cattle Dog mix. She is a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and is extremely sweet. She has taken to the aussielads rather quickly and enjoys playing, especially with Yahto (who seems to be in love). Samantha will be spayed on Friday, 09/07/01. We will continue to evaluate her, discovering her personality as we go along. She seems to walk nicely on a leash, though a bit timid at first. We will keep you posted on her progress.
Samantha LOVES to play in water, whether it's the kiddie pool or the water bowl. She is housebroken and uses the doggie door without any problems.
We would like to (once
again)
thank
Dave
Crabb for his
generous donation which will be used towards Samantha's spay surgery costs.
We would also like to thank
John & Monica for their generous donation which will be used towards Samantha's
continuing treatment expenses.

YAHTO updates (American Indian name meaning "blue")
08/27/01 Yahto officially became one of the "aussielads".
He was going to be adopted out, but began running a slight fever and is having
tests run to determine the cause. We feel that it is best that he remain
here with us. He is sweet and loving and has bonded to us and the other
aussielads. We will keep you updated on his progress.
We currently have no info on Bailey as to where she is. I spoke with her owners before they moved and was told that someone looked at her and were coming back to get her. The owner never called to let me know what happened, although she did say she would call if no one adopted Bailey, since they were NOT taking her with them. We can only hope she found a good home.
"AIKO" ADOPTED 07/26/01
Here's a pic of Aiko with his new family (click for
enlargement). Read the
update.
And the latest ones!
Aiko is really excited about being with his new family. He adores Julio (his new best friend) and is getting to know his canine-sister, Annabelle. Stay tuned for updates.
Aiko is a sweet, loving and playful Lethal White Aussie. He responds to affection, tenderness and love and he does like to "talk" alot. Although he has "disabilities" he is no different than any "perfect" dog. While some precautions will be in order (such as not constantly rearranging the furniture), he will be able to lead a normal life. He does get extremely excited when you turn the garden hose on...he loves to bite the water and really enjoys lounging in a kiddie pool. Flashlights also tend to excite him...he loves to "chase the light".
It appears Newboy has won the heart of the very person that rescued him.
"BLUE" ADOPTED

Blue is having a great time in his new home and enjoys playing non-stop with
Sneakers, his new Aussie sister. Stay tuned for updates.
ADOPTED 06/30/01
Sage was adopted by a wonderful, caring family who has unconditional love and devotion to their current family members, better known as "the gang". They also understand the special needs that a "lethal white" can require, since they are already owned by Corey. Sage spent several hours exploring her new surroundings and getting to know her new siblings as we humans watched in amazement how easily she adapted to all that was new. Her new family has agreed to allow Sage to be our "Poster Aussie" for our Lethal White Awareness campaign...so stay tuned to see more of Sage.
Sage is a sweet 6-month-old (approximately) Lethal White Aussie (probably a mini). Her left eye is not fully developed and she has very little vision from her right eye. She does appear to hear rather well. Sage is currently living with us, and is available for adoption. She has just arrived so we are working on potty training her (through a doggie door). She loves to play with all the aussielads, is crate trained and very loveable.
Annie (now known as "Henry") was lucky enough to be adopted by a wonderful family. She has spent the first few days herding her new "sisters" around and enjoying her new surroundings. Stay tuned for updates.
Sisco was really lucky and has been adopted by his "foster mom" Leysa. He is scheduled for eye surgery tomorrow, so please keep him in your prayers. Good luck Sisco, you lucky little boy.
Sisco was found at the beginning of April running through traffic at Power Road and Queen Creek Blvd. A nice lady rescued him and has been trying to find his owner without success. He is a "Lethal White" Aussie, approximately 5 years old, blind in right eye and entropion in left. Sisco loves to play ball, gets along great with other dogs and cats, is housebroken and needs a family willing to care for his disabilities.
"DUSTY" ADOPTED 06/06/01
Dusty has found a new loving home in Colorado. She is enjoying the "fruits" of an Avocado Ranch.
Sydney has passed away, please read his story on the Rainbow Bridge.
Sydney has found a new wonderful family that is eager to work with him in overcoming any obstacles that his disability has placed in his path. "Lethal Whites" make wonderful, loyal companions and all it takes is a lot of love, a little patience and understanding and an open heart to let all that love in. Good luck in your new home, Sydney...you deserve the best. Thank you Michelle, for keeping him safe...

Tillie,
Holly's new best friend.

Tillie's Gallery by Holly Orgeron
Hi Dave and Cyndi, well here's our friend Tillie. Holly and she were enjoying the weather last weekend and Holly did a Tillie Gallery. Notice the PINK collar. And of course she still has her blue Aussie Rescue tag. Best and warmest, RaMar
New pics of Tillie on vacation with other canine family members.
Tillie, our sweet little Aussie mix who was adopted in November of 2000 to a very loving home was in need of a new one. Due to personal reasons which prevented Tillie from remaining where she was, she needed to find someone new to love...that will love her back just as much. We're happy to tell you that Tillie has found the perfect home. Holly's mom was looking for a great dog for her and when Tillie and Holly met, it was "love at first sight" ...beginning of new story. Tillie will also have some other canine friends to play with: Buford, Sydney & Buffet...and lots of room to run. Stayed tuned for pictures and updates. As you can see, there are times that Holly visits Tillie in her bed and then Tillie visits Holly in her bed (pictures not yet available...but sure to come). A match made in Heaven is a great way to describe this relationship.
Tillie has completed puppy obedience and regular obedience classes. She also won a modeling contest sponsored by Petsmart and will be featured at their stores come fall. She is a little sweetheart, has lots of energy and loves to play, but most of all, loves human interaction. Tillie is approximately 7 months old, spayed, housebroken through a doggie door, up-to-date on all shots, currently on heartworm medication...and just a great little girl. As you can see from these pictures, Tillie is much loved and a little spoiled...as all Aussies should be.

01/15/01
Our visit to Naomi & Sara's new home to finalize their adoption was
one of the most rewarding experiences we've had. We found 2 very happy and
content Aussies, along with very proud and eager parents. We were amazed
at how well they settled in their new home, as if they had been there
forever. In the midst of a tour of all their favorite places, belly rubs
and Aussie kisses, we observed the genuine love and trust exchanged between
Chris, Fiona, Sara & Naomi. More perfect parents for these 2 lucky
girls do not exist...Thank you Chris & Fiona. Our Rescue
Angel sure does a great job.

"JAMMER" Red Merle (spayed female) ADOPTED 11/18/00
01/30/01 Pictures arrived of Jammer sitting pretty and happy in her new home. They love her and she loves being there.
Thanks to the efforts of Debbie DiCicco from Arizona Animal Welfare League, my wonderful, caring husband, Dave, and Bill & Sherie Gibson (who sent the adoptive family to see her), Jammer was adopted by a wonderful family in Scottsdale where she will enjoy leisurely walks and lots and lots of loving. Without that "team effort" from all of them in my absence, Jammer would still be chained to a link fence in some back yard. What better life for a 9 year old wonderful, sweet Aussie...We love you Jammer...enjoy your new life!
A special thanks to Debbie, Dave, Bill & Sherie for all their hard work and commitment to ensure that Jammer would never again experience the horror that she endured. This is what makes "rescue" so rewarding.
Kandoo is now an official member of the "aussielads"
"KANDOO" Lethal White Red Merle (neutered male)
Kandoo
is the most extraordinary puppy we have ever seen. He has become so much a
part of our family that we came to realize we can never let him go. So, on
my birthday, wearing a purple ribbon on his head, he walked over to me and let
me know he was here to stay. He will be very much a part of this webpage
because he has so much to offer and we'd like to share all of it with
you...besides, he's a clown and loves to show off. So keep a lookout for
Kandoo...you won't be disappointed.
Hi, my name is Kandoo...just because I can. I am only 3 months old.
I am a result of "uneducated breeders" breeding merle to merle, blue or red, the result is the same. Because they were not informed of the dangers of this act, I am what they call a "lethal white" which basically means because of the genetics involved, I am definitely blind in one eye (which never formed correctly) and may have visual disability in my other eye. Because of this breeding, I also lack color on my ears, which means I lack pigment in my inner ear, so therefore, my hearing will also be impaired. Fact is, I am here...so now, what do you do with me? I need a family that will understand my special needs and provide me other recourses of survival. I do not, at this early age, know that I am different from other Aussies (as you can see in my pictures), that is why I need someone to teach me how to make it in this world. I did not ask to be here, but I am...so I know I "can do" it...catchy name, don't you think?
Click on "Lethal Whites" for links providing additional information on Aussies like me.
