Niko

ADOPTED

Niko was adopted today by a really
great family (friends of Will and Amy who adopted Bounce).
Below is Lorraine's email on how things went.
Hi All,
Niko's adoption went very well! First he got to run
around the backyard by himself. Then he got to meet Annie, who mothered
him. He had all his little furs up down his back. After a few minutes he
got comfortable with Annie and jumped on her back, which she pretty well
ignored. Once they were both comfortable, we brought Perry, the Rottie mix
out who is toy possessive. Well, no problems in the back yard, they just
smelled all around, then Perry decided he wasn't that interesting and got
attention from everyone else. Momma Annie monitored everything and made
sure Niko was safe. After the 3 of them were comfortable, Blue got to come
out. Blue was very excited and ran right up to Niko, scaring him a bit.
Momma Annie stepped in and headed Blue off. Once Niko was comfortable with
Blue (another couple of minutes) he engaged everyone in a "chase me" game,
hiding behind every obstacle he could find!
When Blue and Niko first started playing, Momma Annie
drove Blue away from Niko using several growls. After a while, she figured
out no one was getting hurt and they chased each other around a bit.
Eventually, Niko and Blue were playing, and the "old
folks", Annie and Perry laid down on the porch. Janine and Matt say Niko
tired Blue out, as he was panting and not wanting to run for the ball
anymore.
Then we all went in to sign paperwork. Janine and
Matt had bought several new toys and Blue and Niko had fun tugging toys
together. Momma Annie had enough and retreated to her kennel! Perry did
get toy possessive, as Niko was trying to tug on the toy Perry had in his
mouth. A few growls and a snap were issued (and Momma Annie came back in
the room), Niko yelped and ran and hid. When he came back out, he decided
to play with Blue and avoided Perry with his toy! Got lots of pix and
Matt and Janine got some nice ones too. Attaching pix, quite a few, so at
least 3-4 mails to send them all!

Niko is a Blue Merle
Lethal White male, just 8 weeks old. He was
born to a litter of eight that is currently in H.A.L.O. rescue. Since he
is deaf and slightly vision impaired, H.A.L.O contacted us to help find him the
right home. Kelly and Paula (Aussielads partners) picked him up today and
he is being fostered at Kelly's home until a new foster home can be secured.

Niko received his
first booster on 6/11/04 and is due for his 2nd on 7/2/04. He is settling
in just fine at Kelly's and is busy playing with Fresno
and Orson. Niko will be neutered before going to
his forever home. Please check back for updates and pictures.
