Faith & Hope, Lethal White Blue Merle Australian Shepherds, were born as a result of a Merle-to-Merle breeding on 1/5/03. They are both deaf, but appear to see rather well. They have been well taken care of and loved. Their tails are docked, they've had their 2 booster shot and will be spayed in a few weeks. They arrived at Falcon Field Airport on 3/8/03 thanks to some of the pilots from Flying Paws. They are currently in foster care being potty trained, crated trained and evaluated (not to mention spoiled...but who could resist?).

3/17/03 The girls had their eye check up today at Eye Care For Animals and here's the report: The eye doc says both girls eyes are clear and the retinas are normal. The pressure is good, on the low side, but normal for this condition (the development of the eye due to the genetics) They are too young to have tear production measured, but it appears to be adequate. There is no need for medications at this time, and they should be checked in about 6 months, just as a follow-up. They both have good vision, the only difference is that Faith's pupils are down lower, so she adjusts accordingly. Since she was born this way it is not a problem. Faith's left eye is slightly larger than her right eye. This is because it is closer to the size of a "normal" eye. It is not a problem.....just another defect of the merle gene.

ADOPTED 04/05/03 Meet Faith's new family!

Faith is a little sweetheart, friendly and full of energy. She is a little more laid back and reserved than her sister, Hope, but enjoys meeting new people. Faith is totally deaf and has some visual impairment, but gets around just fine. Crate training is going very well, as is her potty training. Faith is spayed before adoption as well as had her eyes examined at the eye specialist.

ADOPTED 06/13/03

Hope was adopted by her foster home who could not bear to part with her. We had a really nice home who was very interested in adopting Hope, but when her foster home realized that she may actually be leaving them, they just couldn't let go. The potential adoptive home was very understanding...and very happy for Hope.

Oh boy, Sage & Sedona want to play too!
